TEXTILES - scion

British brand Scion are launching Pepino, a fun collection of cheerful fabrics to accompany their Noukku wallcoverings. Continuing its love affair with Scandinavia and once again channeling the ‘good life vibe’ of the Hygge trend, Scion has produced an exhilarating range of feel-good fabrics. Taking its name from a botanical name for a sweet, edible fruit, Pepino comprises nine designs over 43 colourways. Bursting with vitality the collection contains an energising mix of motifs including stylised graphic florals, playful interlocking abstract leaves and fun owls and cranes. All the fabrics are suitable for drapes and accessories and one can also be used for upholstery. The collection will be available via a network of stockists nationally and internationally from July 2017.
Hannah Bowen, Scion’s designer, explains how the designs got their distinctive look:“I created them using paper-cut collage to give them a slick, contemporary look. I played with the idea of tessellating shapes, and motifs that would fit together to form simple, cheerful prints.” Pepino revels in its fresh and vital colours. Contemporary and trend-driven, the saturated palette is very new for Scion. Imaginative colour combos include: bilberry, rhubarb and indigo; blush, honey and raffia; jade, forest and denim; pink grapefruit, sky and julep; cinnamon, sky and hemp; jade, sunshine and coast; limeade, hemp and glacier.
